  2. 2

    Attach supporting documents

Attach copies of bills, statements, ID, or any document that supports your dispute. Up to five attachments.

  3. 3

    Enter the bureau's address

Frequently asked questions

What address do I send the dispute to?

Use the consumer disputes address published by the bureau. Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion each publish a separate mailing address for FCRA disputes on their websites.

Should I dispute with one bureau or all three?

Credit data is reported to bureaus independently. If an error appears on more than one report, dispute with each affected bureau separately. One letter does not update the other two.

How long does the bureau have to respond?

Under the FCRA, the bureau has 30 days from receipt of a written dispute to investigate, contact the data furnisher, and provide a written response. The 30-day clock starts when the letter is received.

Should I send by Certified Mail with Return Receipt?

Many consumer protection lawyers recommend Certified Mail with Return Receipt for FCRA disputes — the green card is proof the bureau received the letter. PostPal mails standard First-Class Mail; for Certified Mail, contact us before paying.

What should I include with my letter?

Include: full legal name, date of birth, current address, recent address history, copy of government ID, copy of a utility bill at your current address, the specific disputed item with account number, and supporting documents.
