How Idaho inmate mail works

Idaho sends mail to each facility directly. Address it to the resident’s committed name (no nicknames), IDOC number, institution, and housing/unit, then the facility’s own mailing address.
Use a plain white legal- or letter-size envelope with your full name and return address. Mail that doesn’t meet the format can be returned to sender.
Personal letters are opened and searched for contraband in front of the resident but not read; acceptable mail is delivered within about 24 hours on business days.
