Frequently asked questions
Is a mailed demand letter required before small claims court?
Most small claims courts in the US strongly recommend (and some require) a written demand before filing, to show the dispute could not be resolved without the court. Always check the rules of the court where you intend to file.
Should I send a demand letter by Certified Mail?
Standard First-Class Mail is sufficient for most demand letters. If you need proof of receipt, Certified Mail with Return Receipt is a separate USPS product — contact us before paying and we will point you to the right option.
Will I get proof of when the letter was mailed?
Yes. You receive a dated email confirmation when the letter is submitted, and the order page shows the mailing date. Many small claims courts accept this as evidence of notice.
Can I include exhibits or supporting documents?
Yes. Up to five attachments (PDFs or images) can be printed and mailed with the letter. Standard letters cover up to 6 pages; longer documents are handled with our extended-page option.
Can I keep a copy?
Yes. The exact PDF that was printed and mailed is available to download from your order page.
