Frequently asked questions

Is a mailed notice considered properly served?

State landlord-tenant law sets the rules for service. Many states accept First-Class Mail (sometimes with a few extra calendar days added for service-by-mail), but some require Certified Mail or in-person service. Always check your state's requirements before relying on mailed service.

Can I use a state-specific notice form?

Yes. Upload the completed form as a PDF. We print it exactly as you submit it.

Should I send a tenant notice by Certified Mail?

Some states and some lease clauses require Certified Mail (often with Return Receipt). Standard First-Class Mail through PostPal is sufficient for many notices, but check your state law and your lease first.

Will I have proof I sent it?

Yes. You receive a dated email confirmation, and the order page records the mailing date. Many courts accept this as evidence of mailing for non-Certified service.

Can I attach supporting documents?

Yes. Up to five attachments (PDFs or images) can be included with the notice — for example, a copy of the lease or photographs of the unit.
